We are seeking a skilled and capable Chair to lead our team of Trustees. With our current Chair soon to retire, we need someone who can ensure the Board runs effectively and holds the charity accountable.
The new Chair should have a strong understanding of governance and previous experience as a Trustee, ideally as chair. Experience in the charity sector is crucial, as the role involves working closely with the CEO and the wider charity team on a regular basis. Additionally, non-executive governance experience is essential to provide strategic oversight and ensure robust decision-making processes.
While our current Board has a range of lived experiences, which is always valuable, it is not essential for this vacancy. We envision a Chair who can effectively listen to and harness the lived experiences of all current trustees. It is important that the incoming Chair understands the current challenges facing LGBTQ+ young people and has a passion for the goals of our charity.
For a Trustee Information and Application Pack email: info@sayit.org.uk or phone: 0114 241 2728
Or contact George Dunn (Deputy Chair of Trustees, they/them) to arrange an informal chat: george.dunn@sayit.org.uk
We feel passionately that our trustee board should be truly reflective of the young LGBT+ people we serve. So, we are encouraging enquiries from people of all backgrounds and (especially those) from people of colour and/or trans people. Given the nature of our work, we are also keen to add more young LGBTQ+ voices to the board too – so please do get in touch if you are a 16-25 year old who wants to find out more about working with SAYiT!
It is not necessary to have previous trustee board/committee experience or knowledge, as training will be provided. So, this position would suit anyone looking to take their first steps to develop board level and/or governance experience.
